I have been itching to write about one of my favourite topics - Estonian people who have made it big in fashion. Fashion model industry is notoriously hard to crack, especially so if you come from a small not-very-well-known country such as Estonia.
Karmen Pedaru is one of the most successful Estonian models who has graced the covers of tens of well known fashion magazines and has featured in massive ad campaigns for high-end brands such as Gucci, Armani, Fendi, D&G and Michael Kors. Michael Kors seems to have a particular liking for Estonian models, having featured another highly successful model Carmen Kass in their previous campaigns.
Pedaru was discovered in Tallinn Drama Theatre in October 2005. Shortly after she landed a 2006 Teen Vogue editorial and debuted at Christopher Kane during the Spring 2007 season. But it wasn't until the Autumn 2007 collections when she walked for Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan and Dries Van Noten that her career really skyrocketed.
She now lives in New York and counts her grandmother's food as the thing she misses the most about her home country (:
I wish Karmen all success in the world with her career and here are some of the most beautiful pictures of her:
